The House Detective - Reno
On the Road
What a great way to break up the winter but to step out and see somewhere warm, green, and a little historic.
To celebrate 30 years of being on the air in Northern Nevada we brought you to a family castle, Eilean Donan Castle on the edge of the Isle of Skye in Scotland.
21South, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. This was where we welcomed three new real estate companies to the show.
As a tribute to our roots, we set up just outside the CBS Broadcast Center in New York for the open of our 1500th show. It also marks 70 years of The House Detective which started in New York City.
For a special late edition of the show we thought it would be fun to bring you an open while under the lights of the London Bridge.
This time we set up on the edge of the beautiful Blue Falls just outside of Fortuna.
Just steps from the edge, we started the show from the Cliffs of Moher outside of the town of Lahinch on the West Coast.
Nearly the most remote start to the show, we're are on an island off the Bocas del Toro in the Caribbean.
How about some port with your homes. In between stops at vineyards and port tastings we took a moment on the Douro River to set up the show.
In the middle of the city streets we stopped to let you know we had another episode ready to go with the Gaudi designed apartments in the background.
Rough duty from the islands.
At one of the nation's most recognizable spots we celebrate owning a home.
While we couldn't leave we could train our cat to do tricks. (Pictured upper right.)
There was a time we were to stay home. Nothing wrong with that, so here's our home. (We found it on The House Detective.)
This was the realization of a dream from before. The opportunity to see the reserve at Rio Claro. A valley with marble walls and tons of creatures.
While on the hanging bridges this open was interrupted by a family of monkies in a nearby tree.
At the end of my final trip working on Wild Fish Wild Places we talked to captain Dario on our house boat.
In the Strobal region of Patagonia in Argentina we set this up at this spot because of the ancient petroglyphics on the rocks next to us.
Technically the most eastern spot we have opened the show from. The island nation of Kirabati is the first to bring in each day just across the date line.
On the bow of a small fishing boat was a familiar spot for a long time. Here we on Tazin Lake on the edge of Alberta and Northwest Territories, Canada.
Technically this was one of the most challenging moments on the show. While on a float plane, capturing what is being said while not getting overwhelmed by the motor noise.
While in the Yukon we visited a number of incredible places like Pelly Lake. Nobody but fish, moose, and bears.
We first vistied the Rio Claro Reserve by arrving after midnight and leaving before noon. Hardly enough time to appriciate the surroundings.
One of our favorite people we have had on the show is "Captain Bruce" the owners of Lakers Unlimited Lodge on the shores of Lake Athabasca in Northern Saskatchewan.
This spot was our furthest east in Europe in Southern Finland just a few minutes drive from the Russian border on the Langinkosken River.
Just off the coast we were "stuck" between the islands of Captiva and North Captiva.
Since the sun didn't set until midnight we had plenty of time to get this shot just right on the edge of the Naknak Lake. Yep, wearing waders.
This was the first time we did one of these so the Ross Errilly Friary in the west of Ireland seemed like a good place to start.
